Safe Use

Traditionally, certain methods of application for essential oils have been preferred or exclusively used. But research on essential oils continues to evolve and, as a result, we now know much more about application methods. All application methods are safe when done properly. One or more application methods can be used for a wide range of emotional and physike wellness applications. They can be used with one oil at a time or in complex compositions in the following methods:

1. On the skin

Application to the skin is a very effective method of applying essential oils*. Because essential oils are low molecular weight and fat soluble, they can easily penetrate the skin. Once absorbed, they remain in the area where they are applied, to do their work there.
Although essential oils are easily absorbed, there are many ways to increase absorption. A light massage causes more blood to flow to the area where the essential oil is applied, improving distribution through the body. Using a carrier oil can also increase absorption, especially with dry or flaky skin, because the carrier oil applies moisture to the skin and allows the oil to evaporate slowly.
To minimize the chances of your skin becoming too sensitive, especially young skin or skin that is already sensitive, it is recommended to use a carrier oil (such as Fractionated Coconut Oil) to dilute the more potent oils, and when using an oil for the first time. The recommended dilution ratio is one drop of essential oil and three drops of carrier oil.
It is always advisable to use several narrow doses throughout the day rather than a larger dose once. Start with the lowest possible dose (1-2 drops). A dose applied to the skin can be repeated every 4-6 hours if necessary. Because everyone is unique, the dose for everyone varies based on height, age and general health. Other effective methods of application to the skin:

  • Add a few drops to a hot bath
  • Make a hot or cold compress by dipping a towel or garment in water, adding essential oils and placing it on the desired area.
  • Add oils to a lotion or moisturizer and apply to the skin.

Sensitive areas to avoid:

  • Some areas of the face, such as the skin around the eyes
  • Eyes and inside ears
  • Damaged skin or wound

2. Intern
Certain essential oils have a rich culinary history and can be used as dietary supplements to support various conditions*. When you put cinnamon on your oatmeal, drink peppermint tea or add fresh basil to your spaghetti, you are actually eating or drinking certain volatile aromatic components of essential oil.Essential oils contribute to many health benefits, as well as to the taste and smell of food. In concentrated form, essential oils can be used as dietary supplements for health benefits. Internal use is a safe and effective application method because of the sophisticated physiological processes in our bodies.
When ingested, edheric oils enter the bloodstream directly through the gastrointestinal system, where they are transported through the rest of the body. Essential oils are fat soluble, so they are transported to all organs in the body, including the brain. Then, like everything else we consume, the essential oils are processed by the liver and other organs and then excreted.
The composition of essential oils is very complex. Each component has a unique set of biochemical properties that interact with cells and organs in different ways. Although we do not yet fully understand these mechanisms of action, the positive end results have already been proven. However, the body is only equipped to process the right doses of essential oils.
The correct dosage according to the label and other professional guidelines must be strictly followed to avoid toxicity.

Effective internal application methods
Use oils in recipes for cooking and baking to replace fresh or dried herbs and spices.Remember that essential oils are much more potent than dried or fresh herbs and spices, so start with a small amount.
For the more potent oils, it is better to add them with a toothpick (dip the end of a clean toothpick into the oil and add it to the food) rather than drops.
Add essential oils to water, smoothies, milk, tea or other drinks.Take essential oils internally with a veggie capsule or add to a small amount of yogurt.

3. Inhale You do this by smelling the open bottle and inhaling the scent or by means of a drop of oil on your palm, rubbing it vergolgens into your hands, making a bowl of your hands and holding your hands in front of your nose that way and inhaling.

*For all application methods, read and follow labels for specific instructions and safety information.
